Quests & Events

There are different types of events in ES, such as story quests, sidequests and seasonal events. Participating in any of those usually involves bonus coins on top of the original submission amount.

Story Quests

Official group quests which tell the main story of ES. Their focus is the exploration of the realm and investigation of tainted elemental spirits. Most have some form of mandatory participation and a scheduled group RP.

Story Quests are unlocked through the combined effort of members in the group. When submitting art and text to the group, members earn two types of currency: coins that are added to their personal inventory and shards that are added to the group progress bar. Once the shards bar is filled, a new chapter of the story unlocks.

Sidequests

Optional quests which can be done at any time to earn extra coins and rewards. Some are recurring, while others have a certain time limit.

Members can submit their own sidequests to the group, and they will be available for anyone to do it. These can be anything you’d normally see on RPGs: monster hunts, delivery of items, lost pets, gathering of resources, etc.

By default, the Adventurers’ Guild is the sidequest issuer, but any other character or NPC in need of help can be used as a quest giver as well.

To submit a sidequest, fill the form below and send it to a mod for approval:

Sidequest: Name of the quest.

Issuer: Character(s) issuing the quest (the Adventurers’ Guild will be used as default if one isn’t provided).

Description: A little text IC or OOC about the quest.

Requirements: What needs to be done to complete the quest. Proof of completion should be given through RP, art or writing.

Reward: Bonus coins, badges or items a character will receive for completing the quest.

Deadline: This can be either after an amount of time has passed or after a certain number of characters have completed the quest.

Seasonal Events

Recurring yearly events and other festivities celebrated in Emerald Town.

  • Stardust Celebration (Dec 31st)

On this day, numerous shooting stars fall from the sky. The tradition is for people to take a jar with them and wish on the stars. A small colorful ball of light may then appear inside the jar, when they should close it. It’s believed this means the wish has been heard by the Elementals.

  • The Blooming (Jan 1st)

On the first day of spring, around late morning, people gather around the Guardian Tree to watch the new year bloom. The Guardian Tree blooms a different flower every year, and the flower it blooms is used as that year’s symbol. Before the Blooming, people open the jars with the wishes they collected the previous night. The lights converge to the tree and then the Blooming happens.

  • Love Day (Feb 14th)

A day when people celebrate romance and love. They may send anonymous letters and gifts to their beloveds, or directly confess their feelings to others. It’s part of the tradition to give chocolate and flowers to your loved ones, crushes, or even just friendship gifts to those you care about!

  • Spring Festival (Mar 21st)

On the day of the spring equinox, people wear flower crowns and smear each other with colored powder made from plants. Anyone and everyone in open areas is game, and the whole town gets inevitably painted in the process. This is said to invite rain to Emerald Town to clean the colorful powder and help flowers bloom.

  • Summer Solstice (Jun 20th)

The longest day of the year is celebrated mostly outdoors, under the shining sun. Parties with a lot of dancing, singing and drinking start early in the afternoon and last until the traditional release of paper lanterns at night. It's customary to write a wish on the lantern before releasing it to the skies.

  • Autumn Festival (Sep 22nd)

Also known as the harvest festival, it happens on the day of the autumn equinox and is a celebration of the bountiful crops of the season. Contests happen in the plaza for better grown produce, food and game stalls fill the town streets and people gather together to feast with their family and friends at night.

  • Night of Witchery (Oct 31st)

Ancient tales tell that during the night of witchery, the lines between the mortal realm and the underworld become blurred, and ghosts and demons can cross to our side at the witching hour. To celebrate the dead, the spirits and the macabre; townsfolk organize costume parties, carve pumpkin lanterns and go trick-or-treating.

  • Winter Solstice (Dec 21st)

Townsfolk celebrate the winter solstice by decorating houses and trees with lights and candles, sharing a special meal with friends and family and exchanging gifts. It’s a celebration of light in order to banish the darkness of the longest night of the year. During the latest hours of the solstice, the magical aurora lights can also be observed in the sky of Emerald Town.
